Biography
Susan is a lyric soprano. She was awared a B A Honours Degree in Music by The University of Bath and the Licentiate of The Royal Academy of Music, London. She is a qualified vocal coach with several teaching diplomas and has also studied piano and viola to Grade 8.
Susan's musical career has included a wide variety of professional performance experience and several posts in music education. She has an extensive knowledge of the operatic and oratorio repertoire and has performed at leading venues in the UK and Europe. She has been Director of Music at two independant schools in her home county of Wiltshire. She continues to work as a visiting singing coach, as a group leader for summer schools and opera workshops. She is a Singing Leader for the 'Sing Up' campaign in schools and continues to perform on the professional concert and operatic platform.
Susan has sung at many venues in the UK and Europe, most recently being invited to sing at the Cathedrals of St. Mary, Gibraltar, and as special guest artist in Tours, France. She is due to take part in a concert tour of Tuscany, Italy in July 2009.
In 2007, Susan became a member of Opera Sulis, a professional vocal ensemble who are based in the World Heritage City of Bath (Aquae Sulis). She has since performed in many of Bath's historic houses and venues. She also designs and leads workshops in schools and the wider community as part of her work with the company.
Susan has an extensive knowledge of the operatic and oratorio repertoire and details of the many roles she has performed and studied can be viewed on her Repertoire pages. She is a well qualified musician who can learn new music at speed.
Susan has worked with many established instrumental and singing professionals performing as soprano soloist in premieres of new works by contemporary British composers. She continues to study with Rosa Mannion.
